4th of July 5

While I was at Dad's they got their pics of Josh and Cynthia's wedding. I managed to digitize a few. You guys are so beautiful!!! I wish I could have been there. Here are a few.

We also had chance to visit the magical cabin of John Borroughs and its surroundings. He was a famous naturalist who did extensive early work in favor of the environment. Then I left, alone, back to MA to go to work. The kids stayed with their grandparents for the rest of the week! It worked out well with everyone getting along just wonderfully through almost all of it. The kids came back exhausted but very happy! Thanks again Janet and Dad!

We took a great hike to a place called the stone church in Dover Plains. During the hike you could really tell that the land had actually just been opened up to the public. Beautiful, untouched, soft moss grew everywhere and the water is crystaline. The water drops down out of the valley through this great cave-like stone structure. We hiked into the cave and above it and swam below it. The inside-out pic was taken at the top of a wooden ladder on a ledge inside.

On saturday I took the kids to Dad and Janet's place in Beacon NY. We had some very relaxing, chill time that involved walking, eating, swimming, exploring, as well as new videos and books. We went swimming in a great pool with Anna one day (it has been hot and muggy like only a New England summer can be). Isaiah and Aman both took huge leaps forward: Isaiah teaching himself the art of skateboarding (for real) and Amán the art of the scooter (again for real). They were both zooming down the street in the early morn with me watching them (praying for their protection under my breath). I now understand what my folks went thru with me... vamos a ver!!! We also had a chance to visit great grandma who is doing well aside from the fact that you have to retell your story to her each time you see her. She is sweet and showered the kids with sweets and they returned with lots of hugs.

Fourth of July long weekend. Lise and Ann came in from Chicago and Elena came in from NY city to be with Al. The previous week was a big one for Britt who basically took on helping Al thru the difficult moments on her own since Alfie and Ericka were in PA and VA visiting family. It was stressful and the added help of all the other siblings (Alfie and Ericka also returned a couple of days early) was a warm welcome.
