I was just listening to a talk by Elloy Anello at one of the recent Social and Economic Development conferences (http://sed.skyrunner.net/ ) in the car. I am an addict now. I take any excuse to jump in the car to listen to these talks and others that I am currently digitizing.
He quoted Maria Montessorri as saying that creativity happens when truth and imagination get together for one common purpose... (paraphrase) ...what a wonderfully concise definition of creativity... I like it. What do you think?

Creativity

An artist friend of mine claims that we all have a creative engine within us churning churning churning out ideas, but genius comes from the ability to listen to those ideas, and know the good stuff from the bad. Nice echo, no?
Hey Colin, buenísimo hablar con vos ayer... de paso vine un toque a revisar tu blog, que bueno q las cosas estén tan bien por allá.
No creo q la creatividad ocurra cuando la verdad y la imaginación se conjuguen. Primero porque no creo que exista "la verdad" en el sentido absoluto (acá podríamos tener una larga discusión filosófico-religiosa). Más, pienso en la verdad como el estado actual de las cosas, algo que hay que empezar por cuestionar para ser creativo.
Además deja de lado no solo el filtrar las buenas ideas de las malas, como dice tu amigo, si no la perseverancia para llevarlas a cabo. Se me ocurre pensar acá en la misma Montessori. No solo fue lo suficientemente creativa como para desarrollar un sistema para que los niños rechazados por el sistema pudieran aprender si no q tuvo q sudar para hacerlo realidad.
