Bitter Sweet

The contrasts of this life are amazing, frustrating, delightful, bewildering. In one day, within the span of one minute, contained within the space of a microsecond we witness incredible lunging forward and such sad falling backward. Sunday was another exhausting day of helplessly watching Al's body quickly failing him as we all pitched in to make him as comfortable as possible. Sunday was also a sunny day in which Irene and Colin took the boys on a wonderful hike to the Quabbin resevoir, eating tootsie rolls, singing songs, catching frogs, swimming like fish, throwing rocks, swatting at mosquitos, and tiring out our whole bodies including our cheek muscles from all the smiling. Strange to have so close, one on his way out and others learning to catch frogs on the way in... I am a firm believer that this life is just the first stop of many our our journey towards God but I guess not having experienced the death of someone close I am finding the contrasts frustrating, amazing, bewildering, and delightful.
